Building Power Through People

Community organizing develops leaders and builds public power. Prism Organizing creates pathways for agency, enabling people to act and grow together to win concrete change in the world. Organizing at its best is about forming people through public action—through campaigns that ask something real of us and help us become stronger, more strategic, and more accountable leaders. We're not just participants in programs or moments of mobilization - WE are the power.

Organizing invites us to understand why LGBTQIA2S+ safety, dignity, and freedom matters to us - and what stands in the way of us achieving that together.

We each bring our unique skills, experiences, and resources to the table. Our different strengths complement one another, and working together multiplies our impact beyond the sum of our parts. Member-leaders grow as we take responsibility, make commitments, act with others, navigate tension, and learn from both wins and losses. As we develop our leadership by taking concrete risks in public through real campaigns, we build power for an inclusive Minnesota for all of us.
 


Statewide Campaigns: The Rainbow Road

The Rainbow Road is Prism Organizing’s program, focusing on three milestone activities to foster regional organizing and leadership development.

Trans Day of Visibility

We’re building teams to lead events for Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31st) in as many places as possible around the state, which helps local queer and trans people and allies meet each other.

Prides and Community Festivals

We’re also equipping regional teams to participate in area Prides and community festivals over the summer, making visible the rainbow people in every part of the state (while creating lasting connections beyond one weekend alone).

These teams are connected statewide, but also take responsibility for pursuing local LGBTQIA2S+ safety, dignity, and freedom.
